Hi, everybody!
This year we had our biggest crowdfunding event ever, thanks to your amazing support! Thanks again for all of your love, hype, and help. We have some really fun news for those of you who backed at the Con-Drop Recovery level: we'll be including both coffee AND tea in your rewards! We'll also have a limited quantity of totes, mugs, dice, coffee, and tea available for sale at the convention. However, if you want to ensure you get one for yourself, the best way is to add it to your order during Pledge Management when you receive your survey. Speaking of surveys...
Later today we'll send out surveys to 5% of our backers to test our pledge management configuration. After 48 hours, assuming there were no hiccups that cause a delay, we'll send surveys out to everyone.
This year, we've automated badge activation. If you pledged at a level that includes one or more badges (or added badges to your order), once your survey is complete you'll receive a unique code for each badge in your BackerKit Digital Downloads. Here's how it works:
- Go to your Digital Downloads.
- Go to the Big Bad Con Claim Your Badge page and login.
- Enter your Badge Claim Code to activate your badge!
If you have any issues you can either use the BackerKit support or email us (
[email protected]). If you are activating multiple badges, make sure to log out and log back in with each account you want to activate. Each code can only be used once.

Thank you so much to our Big Bad Community for helping us make this year our biggest and baddest BackerKit yet! We can't believe the outpouring of support we've received from all of you for our scholarship fund, guests, and staff. Thanks to you, we've not only managed to hit all of our stretch goals and beyond, but also we've had our most successful crowdfunding event ever in Big Bad Con's history! We couldn't have done it without your incredible help and hype.

Little Red Mascot Art and Dice Set Reveal for Big Bad Con

One fun part of helping out with Big Bad Con crowdfunding is getting to select this year's swag. This post is all about the
dice set and
screen printed tote bag, which are both part of Big Red’s Satchel and
available as add ons.
Little Red and Wolf Dice Set
As a gaming convention, custom dice was a favorite among the staff. Simultaneously, Sean had just had a good experience working with
Wood Tactics to make custom wooden dice for the upcoming
Stewpot TTRPG.
I
love strange dice materials. Wooden dice have a rustic quality that works well with our two fairytale mascots who are featured on the dice. We chose d6s so that we had a large side to engrave an image. 2d6 works well for anyone playing Powered by the Apocalypse games. Given all of this, we decided we wanted to make 2d6 wooden dice, with a custom graphic for each mascot.
The graphics for Wolf and Red needed to be fairly simplistic, but evocative. A few years ago,
Tabletop Hotdish made this awesome Wolf and Little Red pattern for some exclusive zine notebooks they made for us:
The art had clean lines and an iconic feel, exactly what we were looking for. We licensed the two images from Tabletop Hotdish and then our graphic designer Cris worked her magic to ready them for the dice. We just received this picture of the dice:
Little Red Mascot Reveal and Tote Plans
Each year our mascots Little Red and The Wolf are drawn with different costumes and in different genres, and this year is no different. This year’s concept is wolf as a crooning bard and a roguish little red. Our artist
Eden Parkinson has knocked it out of the park again this year!
In the past we’ve featured Little Red and The Wolf on t-shirts, and this year we’re also screen printing her on a tote! We aimed to get a large tote that could hold a full TTRPG book haul (and maybe even a board game or two) and act as a large canvas to showcase the awesome mascot art. We're currently planning on a canvas tote with a zipper.
Our mascot line art is in, and we’re excited to share it: Without further ado, here is this year’s Little Red mascot art!
We want to make sure the tote image is resistant to a little wear and tear, so we’re screen printing a two color image. The tote image will be a simplified version of this image with three colors (black, red, and the creme of the tote).

order them as add-ons throughout the Big Bad Con crowdfunding. Note that you must have a badge as part of your purchase, since all of the swag is picked up on location, at Big Bad Con.
Finally, another big thank you! We have raised over $60k to put on Big Bad Con (!!!) and a truly humbling portion of that is scholarship and con donations. These are funds that go straight into lowering the barriers to attendance for our marginalized community members and make Big Bad Con even more amazing - including supporting the 15 stretch goal guests and the new Big Bad Academy track. The biggest, baddest, first day of crowdfunding!

We're a little over 24 hours in to funding and just wanted to say
thank you! We funded within the first hour and with your support, we've raised $42,260 in the first day. Over 17.5k of that are sponsor funds: money that
supports the scholarship and the general fund for the convention.
Finally, one of the awesome results about the outpouring of support is that we get to bring some amazing stretch goals guests to Big Bad this year. They'll be running all sorts of panels, game, and events during the con! The full list of stretch goals guests we've been able to invite on day one is below:

This is short update to say thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the campaign so far. You helped us fund on DAY ONE! IN ONE HOUR! Holy cow!
From here out, we've got a list of stretch goal guests we're so proud of. With your help, we can bring them to the con to host panels, run games, and connect with the community. Our first two stretch goal guests are Caro Asercion and Erin Roberts. Let's invite them to the con!
